Your FAQs Answered

We know planning a kite trip raises a few questions – especially when you’re heading to a remote spot like Hamata. Below, we’ve answered the most common questions about our Kite Camp experience, from logistics and gear to wind conditions and what to expect on-site.

If there’s anything else you’re unsure about, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to help you get ready for the ride of a lifetime!

Can I join solo?

Absolutely! Many of our guests come alone and leave with new kite friends for life.

What will the weather be like during the trip (November)?

November in Hamata is one of the best times for kitesurfing in Egypt. You can expect daytime temperatures around 25–28°C, with warm sunshine and comfortable evenings around 18–22°C. The wind is typically consistent, blowing side-shore between 15 and 25 knots – perfect for kiting all day long. The water stays warm (around 24–26°C), so most people ride in a shorty or thin long wetsuit.

Can I join if I have food allergies or dietary restrictions?

Absolutely! Please let us know about any allergies or dietary needs in advance (e.g., vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.), and we’ll make sure you’re taken care of. Our team and the local kitchen crew are experienced in adapting meals for individual needs. You’ll still enjoy fresh, delicious Egyptian-style dishes made with love – just without the things you can’t have.

Can non-kiters join the camp?

Yes, of course! If you’re traveling with a friend or partner who doesn’t kite, they’re more than welcome to come along. Hamata is peaceful, scenic, and the perfect place to unwind. Non-kiters can enjoy swimming, SUP, beach walks, yoga, reading, island boat trips, and more. It’s a great way to disconnect from everyday stress and connect with nature – with or without a kite.

Is this camp suitable for beginners?

The camp is designed for independent riders (you should already know how to waterstart and ride in both directions). This way, everyone can enjoy the spot safely and make the most of the wind.

If you’re an absolute beginner, we recommend starting with a kite course before the camp and joining us once you’re up and riding. Not sure if you’re ready? Reach out and we’ll help you figure it out.

What should I bring with me?

We’ll send you a full packing list before the trip, but here’s the basic overview:

Kite gear:

  • 2 kite sizes (we recommend something like 9m & 12m)

  • Board (freeride or foil)

  • Harness

  • Wetsuit (shorty or thin fullsuit)

  • Helmet & impact vest (optional but recommended)

Personal items:

  • Sunscreen & zinc

  • Sunglasses (ideally with a strap)

  • Rashguard or UV shirt

  • Beach towel

  • Reusable water bottle

  • Travel insurance info

  • A good book or two 😉

We also offer kite rental, so if you don’t want to bring your own gear, we’ve got you covered.

Can I do any cultural or sightseeing trips from Hamata?

Hamata is very remote – which is part of its charm – so there aren’t many traditional sightseeing spots nearby. However, if you’d like to extend your trip, we can help you plan add-ons before or after the camp, like visiting Luxor’s ancient temples, a Nile cruise, or even Cairo & the pyramids. Let us know, and we’ll happily support your travel planning.

How do I get there, and is airport pickup included?

Yes, airport transfers are included in the fixed cost package. The nearest airport is Marsa Alam (RMF). We’ll coordinate pick-up times based on your arrival. Hurghada Airport is also an option, but the transfer is longer (around 4.5 hours) and may involve an extra cost or shared shuttle.

Is kite coaching included in the camp price?

Coaching is optional and can be added based on your goals. We offer:

  • Group coaching: €500 / week

  • Private sessions: €70 / hour (with your own gear)

All coaching is focused on progression and fun – whether you’re working on jumps, transitions, foil control, or refining your technique. Our coaches use real-time feedback, video analysis (where possible), and years of experience to help you ride better and with more confidence.

What’s the vibe like – is this more of a chill retreat or a party week?

This is definitely a chill & ride kind of trip. We focus on community, progression, and enjoying nature. Expect sunset drinks, BBQ nights, bonfire conversations, and lots of kite stoke – but we’re not a party-hard crowd. It’s more about meaningful connections and shared experiences than loud nightlife.

How many people will be in the camp?

To keep things personal and enjoyable for everyone, we limit each Kite Camp to a small group (around 10–14 people). This allows us to give proper attention to each rider, and ensures a warm, connected vibe throughout the week.

How do I book my spot?

Just message us via the contact form on this page and let us know how long you’d like to stay. Feel free to add any additional questions to the form and we will get back to you directly with all the answers.

Once you are happy to reserve your spot, we’ll guide you through the next steps and send you everything you need to confirm your booking. A deposit is required to secure your place – spaces are limited and will fill up fast.
